The original building that once stood here operated as a jail, funeral home, and then a schoolhouse. It burned down in the 1920's and the building that stands today was completed in 1926. It is said to be haunted by a ghostly little boy who has been spotted in the halls and enjoys playing tricks, room #5 is his favorite. He is known to knock on doors in the middle of the night before running away, often giggling. He also removes the window shades and places them on the pillows neatly, and changes the time on the clocks. A ghostly man is also rumored to linger here near the front office, he is said to look extremely real. During equinoxes, it has been said that objects have been thrown across the dining room.

  • i worked here

i worked there in the hotel of the inn. its so terrifying. i highly suggest not staying in room 5. door shuts and opens on its own. it feels like someone is watching you at all times. random slamming can be heard in the empty rooms. i regret ever working there. scared the hell out of me. the office computer and the restaurant/bar cash registers would start going off with nobody around them. screw that place.

  • This happened to me

I stayed at the Montrose Hotel way back in the year 1993. I was in room number 5 and I kept hearing knocking on my door and little kid giggling. I went to open the door and no one was there. I then went out of my room to go downstairs and came back again and the lamp shade was on my bed. I found this extremely strange and reported it to the front desk. They told me this has happened quite a bit and room #5 was indeed said to be haunted. It was not scary for me, just seemed like a little child having fun.
