This historic bed and breakfast inn dates back to 1794. It's the oldest inn to continue operations on the National Road and has hosted famous visitors like Andrew Jackson, the Marquis de LaFayette, Henry Clay, James K. Polk and Mexican General Santa Anna. The stone inn can accomodate up to 23 overnight guests with its 20 rooms.
A stay here may not be your ordinary stay at an inn because it's reportedly haunted. There's the very cold room, mysterious figures that may appear at the door, and there's even been the incident of footsteps appearing in the snow outside a room that is led from the wall.

Was delighted to see this inn reopened last Christmas (2018) after being devastated by fire. Great food and rooms have been lovingly rebuilt. I did not experience any paranormal encounters while staying there though I am told other people have.
