It started out as the Colye family home in the 1800s. Legend has it that young Johnny Colye had feelings for the family's hired girl, but the feelings were not mutual. Colye ended up killing the girl in the barn and was later arrested and hanged for the crime. Both their graves are believed to exist onsite and their spirits continue to live on haunting the property. There are those who claim to hear unexplainable voices and music, the movement of objects, doors slamming, and dishes broken. The apparitions of the two have also been reportedly seen by an inn employee who observed them in the upstairs storage room.
