This home was built in 1786 and served as the home of Philip Syng Physick, aka the “Father of American Surgery.” Dr. Physick lived in the home with his wife Elizabeth Emlen Physick until they separated in 1815. Dr. Physick continued living there alone until his death in 1837. Today the home is a museum, but it is said to be haunted by the wife he separated from. Witnesses can account seeing her at the yard near the spot of where a tree was chopped down shortly before her death.
